Come Through is a song about feeling hopeless. It’s the moment when you have to finally admit defeat, which is also the moment you need to get to in order to look yourself in the eye and realize that you are the only one who can help yourself out of your darkness.
A lot of us find it hard to help ourselves- it’s easier to try to help other people than it is to admit that when we need help. Especially when we have doubt as to whether or not we even deserve it.
I am at a point now where I believe I deserve the help- I think I’m finally coming through.
And to be completely honest- the main inspiration came after Violet Chachki won season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She would always exclaim “COME THROUGH” as a way to encourage and pump up the others. I started playing around with the phrase Come Through at the piano. It was exactly what I needed to hear in order to get to the right place to write this song.
lyrics
How often do you hurt yourself when I’m not looking
Thought it was to make me look but I’m not certain now
There’s something bout the way you talk, way you walk
Says thought today was gonna be the day I
Heard you were looking for a purpose
Wish I could see below the surface now
The reason why I’m always bent outta shape
Is cuz it feels like you’re ungrateful
I know you’ll never change
Just because I want you to
You know I’d rearrange
Everything to see this through
Can we try to stay sane
Come through
Comin through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Comin through
Come through
Come through
I thought it was all make-believe
But I got caught up
Hoping it would make me feel
Like I was moving on
Like all it took was
Showing up
Taking names
I couldn’t bear the weight I
I know you’ll never change
Just because I want you to
You know I’d rearrange
Everything to see this through
Can we try to stay sane
Come through
Comin through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Comin through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Comin through I’m
Coming through
I’m through
Coming through
Thought I had it all
Found out I didn’t want it
Most of all I didn’t know I didn’t know the truth
Can’t believe it took so long for me to own that
My heart is good
Come through
Comin through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Come through
Comin through I’m
Coming through
I’m through
Comin through
